ABANDONED?

An abandoned building was something I
never saw growing up. Some times vacant for a
time when changing owners or renters. But
never abandoned.

This may have been due to over population
of the area. (That's why I left.) This resulted
in a shortage of places to live or work. And
if a place ever became uninhabitable, it was
removed and another put in it's place because
of the premium on land value.

I saw my first abandoned building on a trip into
the Midwest years ago. It was so unique to me
that I have been fascinated with them ever since.

These photos of abandoned buildings were taken
in; Madison, Newton and Washington counties
of Arkansas. One was taken in South Central
Nebraska. Probably in Shelton, or there abouts.
You guess which one came out of Nebraska.

As a person gets older they begin to feel a little
more like these old buildings. Our old bodies
are not as useful as they used to be. And we
find that even society begins to leave us out.
If you are older you know that. You may have
the experience and the answers, but the younger
generation wants to make their own mistakes.
So our opinion is no longer regarded.

But if we will "pardner" with Jesus Christ,
our creator, He makes us a promise.

"I will never leave you; I will never abandon you."
-Hebrews 13:5 TEV

RUINED

I happen to enjoy ruins. Why? I do not
know. But I would stop to look at the old
foundation of a none existent house long
before stopping to admire a new one.
Perhaps it is the same thing that makes
a lady stop at a flee market.

On a motorcycle ride one day I came upon this
dandy. It is on Hwy. 45 near Cainhill, Arkansas.
Looking at the map, my guess would be it is
about 6 miles or so from the Oklahoma border.
Cainhill is my kind of town. That is if I had to
live in town. When driving through Cainhill -
if you blink you will miss it.

This is one of the largest water wheels I've
seen. The stream does not show in the pictures.
But obviously it is near the water wheel.

This is a real cool place to stop, browse around,
eat a sandwich and have a cool drink. (If you
brought them with you.)

Now that I think of it, God likes ruins too.
That is why Jesus came and died in out place.
To fix our ruined lives, if we will let Him.

WHY GOD MADE THE OZARKS?

We know why God made the Swiss Alps and
the Andes. So it could snow on them. Then
we could ski, climb, toboggan and snowmobile.
And as the snow melts, give us streams and
rivers that flow to the ocean.

God made the ocean to catch all that water.
Then we could sail on it. Swim in it and
catch fish from it.

God made the desert for a dry place for
cactus to grow and a place for us to explore.

But have you ever thought why God made the
Ozarks ? (That's where these pictures are from.)

That's the simplest question of all. It's the
perfect place to ride motorcycles.

If you are into motorcycles, come try it.

Meet me out there on the road.

WHICH IS IT, JUNK OR TREASURE?

FOR THE LADIES.

TREASURE

MORE TREASURE

FOR THE GUYS.

JUNK

JUNK AND MORE JUNK
You know,  "a junk yard."

The "stuff" in the first two photos is buried treasure.

The "stuff" in the next three photos is Junk.

Now what is the difference?
Is it because some of the stuff (Ladies) is inside,
and some is outside (Men)?

Or is it because "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"?
What ever that means.

Or, maybe just because God made ladies different
than men? I'm sure glad He did.

If you find out why some junk is "just precious",
and other junk is, just junk - let me know.

BEST PLACE TO EAT LUNCH

I appologize for the very poor photos.

The sunlight just would not cooperate.
And I could not wait half a day for the
proper light. (Yes, I have heard of filters.
But there are none for that little camera.)

This little picnic area is such a delight
I stop here each time I pass through the
area.

This is found on Hwy 74 in Madison County
Arkansas. Just a short distance East of Hwy.
23. Even when you are looking for it, you
will probably drive past it before really
seeing it.

The pictures do not do it justice. But if
you can ever get by there you will enjoy
just poking around looking the place over.

There has been a lot of work put into this
little picnic area. It deserves your attention
and enjoyment.

I have even found locals there who drove a
mile from the house just to enjoy the solitude.

It is areas like this that help me appreciate all
the more the wonderful things God has made.
And in this case man did not mess it up too
much.

May you be blessed with a "hide-a-way" to get
to and a time of tranquility often.

NEVER ASK ADVICE

This house is about two and a half miles from my
place. Over the years I have seen this piece of
land flooded several times. So when they begin
to build I could not help but wonder what those
crazy people were doing.

Advice could have been ask of anyone living in
the area. But we would have lost these photo
opportunities.

Right after I took these photos they moved in
with dumpsters contractors etc. and really
went through it.

And of course the old river did it all over again
in just a few months. So far I have seen this
house flooded at least three times.

It made me thank God that I lived in an old
house up toward the top of the hill.

P.S.
You might be able to get a good price on it.
Some years it don't get flooded.

MORE GLOBBAL WARMING

I know. I should not do this. But our nation's capital has just gone
through record breaking snow. This region has had more snow than
normal. And is about 20 degrees colder than normal. I'm setting
here now with it snowing out side - again. I've just about had all
the Global Warming I can take.

I don't even feel like riding my motorcycle today. So I thought that
during this Global Warming spell, I would dig up a couple of pictures
of last year's Global Warming spell in these parts. Well, on my place.

May God grant that you do not have too much Global Warming where
you live.
