THIS WAS PENNY

THIS WAS PENNY

Years ago when I first got acquainted with
Fort Rock Family Camp, on arrival you were
just as likely to be meet by Penny the pig,
aa a dog.

Penny had been dropped off at the camp by
somebody who apparently was tired of taking
care of her.  She was left with permission, not
just abandoned.

Penny had free range of the camp which is a
farm with the camp it's self on the upper end
of the farm.  So Penny could be found at the
directors house, or in the field with the cows,
or in the woods, etc. etc.  Penny had about
100 acres to roam around on and of course,
feed down at the barn.

But, one day Penny died.
The best they know Penny tried to eat something
that she should not have.  Of course it killed her.

I think I see a lesson here.
We all want total freedom like Penny had.
We want to do what we want when we want,
were we want.  And, of course free food.
But, some restraints for Penny would have
been good for her.

God in his mercy gives us a lot of freedom
to do what we want.  But have you every
considered that the "restraints" he give us;
"Thou shalt" or "Thou shalt not" are for our
own good?
