MAKING A PHOTOGRAPHER.

This is possibly only one third of the cameras

I went through while trying to learn something

about photography.

The lesson I learned is, 

the camera does not make the photographer.

Yes, I love photography.  But I also love too 

much gadgets and neat equipment.  It was fun,

but expensive.

Truly I think the best advice I received was

online from a professional photographer.

I could not quote it exactly, but here is my

rendition or the essence of it.

Don't worry about what kind of a camera you

have.  Just use what you have and learn all

you can about it and all it's features.  Then

go out and learn to take interesting pictures

with it. 

ANOTHER CLOUD PICTURE

WHY ANOTHER CLOUD PICTURE?

I just want to prove a point.

That picture and a number of others was taken

with a little, old, cheap, two megapixel camera.

In fact, the camera was smaller than a credit card.

I used to just carry it in my shirt pocket.  It was 

handy and fun.

Some time see how cheap you can get by 

getting good pictures.  That is a fun experience

in it's self.

Yes, you have seen clouds before.

Talk about works of art.  There is very little that can

match the beauty of the clouds.

For those of us who like to play with out cameras,

consider the clouds.  But consider them fast.  Because

two minutes from now there will be a completely different

beauty to shoot.  If you shot every beautiful cloud 

formation,you would have millions of photos.  So, be 

sure your computer has lots, and lots of memory.

No, I never made the grade.

All of these cameras and more and I am still not

a photographer.  This is simply proof that the camera

does not make you a photographer.

However,

I have learned what some of the real photographers

tell us it true.  It would be better to use only one 

camera and master it.  For myself, I could not keep

up with too many different menus.  It was like 

learning all over again every time I picked up a 

camera.

INFRARED

The above is an "infrared" image taken at the Buffalo

river in Newton County Arkansas.

Below is the same hill taken either a few minutes before

or after the one above with a normal camera.

Both images were taken from the same spot.  But a 

slightly different angle.

Infrared photography was interesting.  But I found it 

to be of little use.

CAMERA TEST

Perhaps my favorite photo.

This is the same tractor that is in the header of this blog.

But there are two things that make it a favorite to me.

One, I wanted to see how cheap a camera I could buy

that would actually work.  The camera I used on the 

image was an old used Kodak that I bought of of eBay

for $1.00.  That is right, only $1.00.  Now I did have to

put batteries in it.

Two,  it was a rainy day when I went out to try the

 camera out.  I just love the shine that the rain put on 

things.

SIMPLICITY AT IT'S BEST

I just love the simplicity of this drive train.

OSHA might not like it.  But as a retired auto

tech., I think it's great.

It is not obvious from the photo, but this is the 

same tractor that is on the header to this blog. 

It just happened to be a rainy day when I was

trying out a $1.00 camera.  That is right, the cost

was only $1.00, used on eBay.  Just trying to see

how cheap it was possible to get a decent camera.

This fossil is "reddish" but not that red.
The excess red is probably because I had the cheap
old camera pointed the wrong way in the light.

But the point of interest to me is;
that these fossils are all over the patch of woods I own.
And, that is at an elevation of 2000 above sea level about
500 miles from the closest ocean and they are fossils of
sea shells.

Yes, proof of the deluge or what we call Noah's
flood in the Holy Bible.  Scoff if you want, but
I have over three acres of proof that things happened
just as the Bible said.

WHAT IS THAT?

Now there is something that very few people ever see.

The inside of a hollow tree.  My little camera has revealed

another mystery to you.

!! PHOTOGRAPHER !!

What a lousy bunch of cameras.

I have enjoyed playing with everyone of them.

But, not one of them made a photographer out of me.

Guess I had better go back to gardening.

At least I know I cannot do that.

TOO MANY

Too many to carry.

Too many to remember how

to work the menus.

The experts say it is better to have

one AND LEARN HOW TO USE

IT.

I hate to admit it.  But in my case 

they are right.

CHEAPER YET

A few weeks ago I posted some photos taken with
an old 2 MP camera.  The purpose was just to try and see
what I could do with a small "MP" camera.

After that challenge, a new one entered my mind.

See how cheap I could buy a camera - and still take pictures

for the internet. 

The camera above I purchased on eBay for, $1.00.

Yes, one as in dollar.

One this particular camera the shipping was $2.41.   Lord,

bless that lady for not ripping me off on shipping fees.

Now I am a simple old man.  You will have to help

me add it up.

it had a broken battery door - but it worked.

Since I have repaired the battery door with "JB weld".

Fine little camera now.

O.K.  So now I have to look for a cheaper one.

But the building had been painted since, and it's raining.

CHEAP FUN

I know.  What is fun and what is cheap???
And, like yourself, what is fun to me now would not
 have been forty years ago.

It happens that one of the things that is fun for me 

"today" is playing with cameras.  (That does not make

 me a photographer.)

For some time I have been wanting to get an old, 

cheap, low megapixel camera to play with.

So eBay, here I come.

I was able to find a suitable camera for $9.99.  

That's right, just under $10.00.  It came with the 

memory card, two batteries and a wall charger.  

All I had to do was put one of the batteries in the 

camera and start shooting.  Praise God for that.

Then the expenses begin to mount up.  From eBay

 I bought a  cheap tripod.  Yes,  .99 cents.  That 

included shipping.  So now I am at $10.98 for my 

photographic gear.  Not quite so cheap now.

All of these images on this post were taken with it,

 my cheapest, lowest megapixel camera.  Just two 

megapixels. I am not quite sure what that proves.

But I enjoyed doing it.

Oh yes!

The tripod.  That is image number one.

A mini tripod is what I wanted.  And boy is it mini.

It will not even support the camera.

So let's just call it a novelty.

But the camera suits me well for an old man's toy.
