This is the "Tedder" at Fort Rock Family Camp.
I did not know what it was for until they put me
to using it. After the hay has been cut it obviously
is going to just lay on the ground. If it lays there too
long it could rot on the bottom or not cure properly.
So, when needed you put the "Tedder", which is a
form of a hay rake, on the back of a tractor and go
out and "stir" up the hay. It does not rake the hay
into rows like a normal hay rake, but just stirs up the
hay so it can all get some fresh air and sunshine.
For my self it made an interesting afternoon just
driving up and down in the hay field stirring up the
hay.
I wonder how many of us need to use a "Tedder" in
our life. You know, life sometimes can get dull and
and in a rut. The cares of life can pull us down and
we loose interest in things. Even spiritually some times
we get in a rut going through the motions. Or said
another way, we take God for granted.
Perhaps that is why when writing to Timothy he said;
"Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that
thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee
by the putting on of my hands."
(2 Timothy 1:6 KJV).
In this case the thought is like stirring up a fire that
is about to go out.
My prayer often has to be,
"God, stir me up."
