WATER

This old hand pump at Fort Rock Family camp
is perhaps the favorite thing of the small kids.
They play with it so much that it seems to be
wore out all the time.  I do not know how many
times I have had to repair it.

True, it is not in a well.  In under it is a tank with
a float to keep it filled with piped in water.  But
the trough is real.  With ten horses on the camp
grounds they use it.

This makes me think of the time Jesus met a woman
in Samaria at a well.   No, she did not have a pump.
She had a bucket on a rope.  But the purpose was the
same - water to drink.

Jesus pointed out a truth to her that we all need
to heed.

"Jesus replied,
'Anyone who drinks this water will soon
become thirsty again.  But those who drink
the water I give will never be thirsty again.
It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within
them, giving them eternal life."
(John 4:13,14 NLT)
