HAPPY NEW YEAR

"Therefore if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creature; the old things
passed away; behold new things
have come."
(2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB)

Tired of your old life.
Don't only start a new year,
but get into a relationship with Jesus Christ and
start a new life.

POLITICAL TALK

This sign had to have been made by someone
who just heard a politician talk.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

"There were some shepherds in
that part of the country who were
spending the night in the fields,
taking care of their flocks.  An
angel of the Lord appeared to
them, and the glory of the Lord
shone over them.  They were terri-
bly afraid, but the angel said to
them, 'Don't be afraid!  I am here
with good news for you, which
will bring great joy to all the people.
This very day in David's
town your Savior was born -
Christ the Lord!  And this is
what will prove it to you: you will
find a baby wrapped in cloths and
lying in a manger.'
Suddenly a great army of
heaven's angels appeared with
the angel, singing praises to God:
'Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with
whom he is pleased!'"
(Luke 2:8-14 GNT)

YE OLD HAND PUMP

This is an old fashion hand pump installed
at Fort Rock Family Camp for the kids.  It
seems to be about the most popular attraction
at the camp, at least for the smaller kids.

I do not know how many times I have had to
overhaul that pump.  But probably at least
once every year or more often.

But if you could see the kids playing with
it and the fun they have with their water fights,
you would know that it is worth it.

OUCH

It is not often that you get to see the bottom side
of a truck.  I was out on my motorcycle one day
and come upon this accident.

Thankfully the driver was not seriously injured.
It was a truck belonging to the power company
pulling a power pole to be installed.  The trailer
with the power pole is on the other side of the
truck.

I enjoyed seeing it a whole lot more than than
the power company enjoyed it.

The book on the right never goes out of date.

GOD PROVIDES A CHAIR.

Proud of that chair.
Well, how God gave it to me.

I had a chair in my "hide out" that was over a hundred
years old.  My daughter wanted it for a room she was
redecorating.  [That is what daughters are for.]  Of
course she got it.  But I needed another one.

Now being as it was for my old "hide out", out in the
woods, a nice new one would be out of place.  And I
did not want to spend much when and old used chair
would do just fine.  So, it was off to the thrift shops.

Now I am used to praying about such things so I
prayed that God would let me get a cheap one.

I found the chair above for $9.95.  That was good
enough.  So up to the check out counter we went.
After putting it up on the counter the girl said that
would be .50 cents.  I pointed out the tag at $9.95.
She told me that "Today all green tags are .50 cents."

So, she got .50 cents and I thanked God for a nice
sturdy chair for nearly nothing.

WRONG DIRECTION

You would not make a mistake like this.
But I thought I would start a small chain
saw and weed eater repair shop.

However,
I did not totally find God's will on the
situation.  I was going my own way.  So, after
spending hundreds of dollars on inventory and
getting things ready to go, God let me know
that I was going the wrong direction.

When you are going the wrong direction
there is only one thing to do, turn and go
the correct direction.

The picture above was only part of the
inventory.  But I took a full pickup load
of chain saws and weed eaters to the sale.
It is true the inventory was mostly material
to repair and then sell.  That made it of more
value to me than to most people.  The result.
It all sold for a whopping $5.00.

I hope I learned something from this.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WANT

I spotted the little tractor above at a friend's place one
day. After looking it over good  and seeing it was a
well built little tractor, old and just sitting there, I
confess to wishing I had it.

It had a hydraulic powered draw bar, wheel weights and
a hydrostatic transmission.  It would be a lot stronger
tractor than the little thing I had.

In time my friend wanted me to get it running for him.
So, I brought it to my shop and "fixed" a bunch of stuff
to get it going.  Then returned it to my friend.

It was being used around his farm pulling a mower.
My friend has a lot of volunteer help because of the
camp connected to the farm.  So the tractor was being
used a lot by "young boys".

You guessed it.  They ran it out of oil.  So, back to my
shop to go through the engine.

Does it surprise you that now I am content to not
have that little tractor?

WAR EAGLE MILLS

WAR EAGLE MILLS

One of the local attractions in North West Arkansas.

The mill still is used and the product on sale.
But to an old guy like myself it is mostly a
gift shop for the ladies to shop in.

But do not give up guys.
There is a restaurant on the top floor.

THE HIDE AWAY

Well,
that is not quite the hide away,
but the drive way into my hide away.

Even Christ himself had times he needed
to go get away from the crowds, usually to
pray.  No I do not have crowds following
me like Jesus did.  And I don't want them.
But sometimes life feels like it is right in
the middle of a crowd.  And so this old man
needs to head out for some peace and quit.

THE OLD BARN

Down the road a ways from me.
Here in the Ozarks we sometimes forget
to paint things enough.

But a few shingles will fix it.

THE BEACH?

The beach?
That is not my photo, even if it is in my computer.

I am not a beach person.  A beach is only a place to
get sandy and salty.  Then you have to wash it off.

However.
I have a granddaughter.  So, that probably explains
everything.  That being the case, the photo is probably
the beach in Bangkok, Thailand.

If you are a beach person, drool.
If not, wash your hands and carry on.

NEGLECT

Somebody neglected this building so long that
it even needs paint now.

A NEAT DOG

O.K.
So I am even more ugly than this poor old dog.
But with God's help I want a disposition that is
as pleasant as this dog's.

Good bye.

DAUGHTERS

All I should have to say is, "I have daughters."
And that should explain every thing to you.

It is this way, my daughter wanted a pallet table.
But her husband is smarter than me, and she could
not get him interested in making it for her.

So he told her that he would rather she had her old
dad make it for her and he would pay the shipping.
That is how that old truck load of pallets above became
the table below.

I shipped it to him unfinished as below.  Her husband
at least stained and polished it - or something.  The
colors really came out in the finished product.  It is
beautiful.  Sorry I don't have a picture of it now for
you.

O!
I am smarter now.  The next time I am going to ship
the pallets to him.

NEIGHBOR NEEDS HELP

It was a nice day.
But the old dead tree could not wait any longer
and fell just before the neighbor went out to get
on his bike.

Only one scratch on the bike.
It had him thanking God for that.

But,
still he could not get out with any of his bikes.
That was why he called for me and my chain saw.

FORT ROCK FAMILY CAMP

Fort Rock Family Camp.

In the Ozark mountains of North West Arkansas is
this Christian family camp.

The faint hair line you see in the sky line is the zip
line that comes from a tower up on the mountain
and across the lake to a tower where I am standing.

You can read about the camp on line at
"Fort Rock Family Camp".

War Eagle Creek just below War Eagle Mill in

A great place to get away from it all and just relax
a while.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR DAUGHTER

Here is how I took care of my daughter.

Everything she could ever need.
Duct tape,
wire
and super glue.

What more can you ask?

"But if anyone does not provide for his own,
and especially for those of his household,
he has denied the faith and is worse than
an unbeliever."
(1 Timothy 5:8 NASB)

ONE OF A KIND

Attached to the end of that old 1/4" hand drill is
an old toy cast iron wood lathe.

I probably acquired the lathe as a young boy back
about 1947.  But I have been dragging it around from
home to home and state to state for about 70 years.
But never using it for anything but to take up space.

You do understand about grand kids - don't you?
And especially great grand kids.  Well, it's the
great grand kids that get ahold of me.  And they
were needing home made whistles.

Now the whistles I make require a "fipple" block.
And the size of wood dowel I need is not always
available - that is up until now.

So, after looking around to see what I could get
my hands on we came up with this homemade
"fipple" block lathe to make homemade whistles.

Only one in the world like this one.  it works
great.

SORRY.
I just had to brag a little.

OH BOY - GRAND KIDS

Grand parents like to show off their grandchildren.

This one is my great grand daughter.
In contrast to most "kids" I caught her here
doing something worth while.  Of course how
long that will last may be something else.

"Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it."
(Proverbs 22:6 NASB)

THE WELCOMING COMMITTEE

One morning I went out the back door to find this
snapping turtle as a welcoming committee for me.

Now snapping turtles are not welcome on this property.
As you can imagine, it had a total disregard for our opinion
on the matter.  So I had to make my point by carefully
placing a small hole in it's head in the area of it's brain,
that is, if they have one.

But, even after this it insisted on hanging around for a
while.  Snapping turtles simply do not catch on very
quickly.

MISS THESE DEER

These two deer used to come visit us every day or
two.  This shot was taken setting on my bed looking
out the window.

I am sorry the one by the tree is so hard to see.

They came over three times Christmas day last year.
Then we never saw them again.

My fault.
I failed to get them any Christmas presents.

THAT'S NOT MY HORSE

Somebodies hungry horse stopped by for a bite to eat.

Donkey butting in.

I got along better with the horse's buddy the donkey.
Perhaps we are two of a kind.

Well!  What else are they good for?

FLYING CONTRAPTION

Faster than walking around the lake.
More fun too.

I do hold the distinction of being the second
oldest rider on this zip line.  But then, I'm
only 83.  I have been beat by a woman.
She was 92 I think.  That is embarrassing.

TOO CROWDED

TOO CROWDED

It got too crowded in town.  So they abandoned
this house in town and left for the woods.

Even Jesus Christ said:

"Come away by yourselves to a secluded place
and rest a while."
(Mark 6:31 NASB)

I think it's a great idea.

HEADING HOME

Hey boy!

Don't you know the old Chinese Proverb says;

"A hundred men may make an encampment,
but it takes a woman to make a home."

!! PHOTOGRAPHER !!

What a lousy bunch of cameras.
I have enjoyed playing with everyone of them.

But, not one of them made a photographer out of me.

Guess I had better go back to gardening.
At least I know I cannot do that.
