GET MORE

DON'T YOU THINK YOU SHOULD WORK
HARDER SO YOU CAN GET MORE "STUFF"
THAT YOU DO NOT NEED?????

"Do not store up riches for yourselves
here on earth, where moths and rust
destroy, and robbers break in and steal.
Instead, store up riches for yourselves
in heaven, where moths and rust cannot
destroy, and robbers cannot break in
and steal."
(Matthew 6:19,20 GNT)

WARNING

"Do not be afraid of those who
kill the body but cannot kill the
soul; rather be afraid of God
who can destroy both body and
soul in hell."

GOOD OLD JUNK MAIL

Remember the good old days?
Oh, how we used to complain
about the junk mail.  The junk
mail was filling our mail box.

I wish that were my complaint now.
At least it stayed in the mail box until
we were good and ready to look at it.
It never banged on the door while I was
eating or trying to take a nap.  It waited
until "I" was ready for it.

Do you remember how we used to sort the mail?
If the piece of mail we picked up was of no interest
whatever to us, just one flip of the hand and it went
into the "round file".  We did not even have to get up.
And never walked across the room to pick it up
and quite it down.

But the joy that is ours now.
At any inconvenient moment the
phone will demand our attention.
It will be a "junk call" even if we
are on the "Do not call list".

How times have "improved".
Instant inconvenience.

TREASURE

What are you going to do with all that stuff
you have stored up when you die?

You sure are not going to take it with you.

"Do not store up riches for yourselves
here on earth, where moths and rust
destroy, and robbers break in and steal.
Instead, store up riches for yourselves
in heaven, where moths and rust cannot
destroy and robbers cannot break in and
steal.  For your heart will always be where
yours riches are."

The treasure that lasts for ever;

"Their greatest treasure is their reverence
for the LORD."

OF SQUIRRELS AND RABBITS

(Images courtesy of:www.Pixabay.com)

Out here where I live wild animals  are almost
as much a driving hazard as the domesticated
drivers with cell phones in town.

YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY
ARE GOING TO GO.
AND,
THEY DON'T EITHER.

That is where all the road kill on our roads
comes from.  Deer, racoons, possums, skunks,
armadillos, rabbits, squirrels and drivers with
cell phones.

A short time back I was driving down a
dirt tree lined country road.  I believe it
was county road 8350.  And I was doing
what you are supposed to do under the
circumstances.  Bounce around in the
old truck and stir up a dust.

I happened to notice one of the larger trees
on the right side of the road with a squirrel
up the tree about two or three feet from the
ground.  The squirrel was on the side of the
tree away from the road.  Just as safe as a
squirrel can get.

I have to assume that it was a teenage boy
squirrel that wanted to show a girl squirrel
how brave and fearless he was.  So, he ran
down the tree and darted across the road in
front of me.

Lucky squirrel.  I was able to miss him.

This morning I was driving down our road when
I saw a small rabbit on the right side of the road.
He/she/it was on the pavement but almost off in
the weeds.  Really safe enough.  And if not content
there, it's nose was in the weeds at the side of the
road where it could easily go.

But no,
it had to turn and go the other way darting in
front of the truck.  I tried to straddle it, but that
was not good enough.  It didn't make it.
Poor rabbit.

But really.
Are we any different????
We ignore signs and warnings.
We try to ignore God himself.
And dart right out into danger.

"Sensible people will see trouble coming
and avoid it, but an unthinking person
will walk right into it and regret it later."
(Proverbs 22:5 GNT)

POOR RICH PEOPLE

It almost amazes me,
how many athletes, move stars and celebrities,

with more money than I can even imagine,

living in houses so large they should be
hotels,

whose fame has become household words,

over dose on purpose,

or blow their brains out.

Do you need more proof that wealth and
fame do not satisfy????

There is only true satisfaction with
having a real relationship with God
himself.

CAUSE OF THE MESS WE ARE IN

Paul Claudel
points out this truth:

"Most statesmen have long noses.
But I suppose that is very lucky,
because most of them cannot see
further than the length of them,
so that a statesman with a short
nose is handicapped by nature."

SAFETY FIRST

I have been using hand tools for over seventy
years.  And, just like you, when a job needs to
be done, we pick up the tools and just do the job.

But according to modern standards - we have
been doing it all wrong.  Some body setting at
a government desk, who has never in his life
used a tool,  is telling us how to do it.  But that
makes sense.  You and I are too busy doing the
job to think about doing it correctly.  But the
smart man at the desk who has not been taught
incorrectly  and has time to think about the proper
approach to using the tool will tell us how.

Now suppose that your wife is bugging you to
take that old loose nail out of the fence.  No,
don't get the tools yet.  You are not ready to
take out.

(Images courtesy of: www.Pixabay.com)

First go and get your steel toed work boots and put on.
You do not want to drop the crowbar on you little toe and
hurt it do you?

Next, put your safety vest on.  That will let your wife
know that you are working, and, keep the neighbors
kid from running over you with his bicycle.

Good.  You are starting off right.  Now go get your hard
hat.  You don't want a bird to build a nest in your hair
while you or working.  Or even worse a ball the kids are
playing with to hit you in the head.

You are almost ready.  Next get a good heavy pair of
gloves to put on.  This will keep you from pinching
your little pinky.  Or even worse getting a splinter
from the old fence.

Now you can grab that crowbar, or pry bar, what
ever you choose to call it.

If you can remember what you were going to do,
or can still move - go pull that nail.

ABSOLUTELY JAW-DROPPING

(Images courtesy of:www.Pixabay.com)

"JAW-DROPPING" the most over used idiom
on the internet used by jaw-dropping idiots.

You see it from the time you begin eating
your jaw-dropping cereal.

To turning on your jaw-dropping computer,
to the jaw-dropping news cast.

Or perhaps your jaw-dropping weather report,
and the jaw-dropping image of some body that
did not put on enough clothes for the jaw-
dropping weather.

After years of looking at all the allegedly
jaw-dropping stuff,  my jaw never
dropping even once.

This is my opinion of the idiom "jaw-dropping".

Your creator himself said;

"You can be sure that on the Judgment
Day you will have to give account of
every useless word you have ever
spoken.  Your words will be used to
judge you - to declare you either
innocent or guilty."
(Matthew 12:36,37 GNT)

SHOPPING WITH JESUS

I'm not as good at shopping as my wife,
or yours.  So I have learned to ask God
for his help - even shopping.

I wanted another chair for my hide away
out in the woods.

My criterion was:
1. Simple.  You know plain.
Nothing fancy to break
down or have to clean.

2. Stout.  Strong.  Sturdy.

3. CHEAP.  I did not want to
pay more than five to ten dollars.

I ask God to help me.  To go before
me and prepare my way.

I headed for a couple of thrift shops.
The first shop only had clothes.  Nothing
a man would be interest in.

I felt impelled to try a shop I had never
been in before.

Yep.  Bingo or what ever.  There up on
a shelf was an old metal framed chair.
It had a nice padded bottom.  Cool.
and a nice padded back rest.

The price was only $7.99.  O.K.!

I put it up on the counter to pay.
The girl said, "That will be .50
cents."  Hey girl the tag says $7.99.

She said yes.  But it is a green tag.
And today all green tags are .50 cents.

THANK YOU JESUS.
